What is the Beer'Lympics?

The York Beer'Lympics is an event that takes place in York County, Pa. It was started in 2012, when Neil Stough and Katrina Rivera decided to help the community through an untapped resource... drinkers. It grew the next year with the help of Jessica Stough, who took donations and sponsors to a whole new level. Ryan Griffin, Sarah Miller and Jeremiah Postlethwait joined each with a new and separate task to make our games better and something more then they were. When Matthew Miller and Charles Smith joined, we completed our team, a group of people with a very clear task, to help others.

The event takes groups of 4 people and pits them against each other in a series of six games throughout the day. The winners receive medals and we sell food, raffles and 50-50 tickets. All of the money we collect goes to the Pennsylvania Veterans Foundation, in hopes to better our home and community.

When is the Beer'Lympics?

The event will always be in summer on a date that works best for those involved. Usually the games will be the third week of July. You can look for the exact date to be announced in January on our social media sites!

What kind of games do you play?

The games will change every year and we encourage everyone to help in picking them out. You can check the games of the current year on the website under "Games". All the rules and games will be listed long before the event to be sure all teams have a fair chance to practice.

I don't drink beer what could I do there?

Plenty, every year we need people to help us run the games and the event in general. Keep watch before the event for us asking for help. We also want spectators, we have lots and lots of items to raffle and food to sell so we'll need plenty of people to come and help us raise money... and cheer on the teams!

I would like to donate something but I'm not sure how.

Contact us at Yorkbeerlympics@gmail.com. Our board will be sure to point you in the right direction. You may also contact Neil Stough at (717) 586-7131.

How do I make a team?

It's easy, all you need is four people per team and the donation amount for that year, currently $40. You can then contact Neil Stough through any means (site, email, phone or Facebook) once your money is in, he will list your team members and team name on the sites. That means you're in and you'll be able to compete in the games. Remember we have a limit on the number of teams.  The "rules" section on the website has more information on this process.

I can't make the event but I'd like to donate money or buy raffle tickets anyways, can I?

Of course, get a hold of anyone on our Beer'lympics team (Neil Stough, Katrina Rivera, Jessica Stough) and we'll be sure to help you out!
